Michael Wetmore ’89: Leading the Return to Flight
Brothers and Florida Tech graduates share a passion and top-level careers in space.

Last January, the fuel tank earmarked for Space Shuttle Discovery on NASA’s Return to Flight arrived at the Kennedy Space Center.

Among the dozens of engineers, managers and support personnel who gathered to mark the momentous occasion was Michael Wetmore, the director of shuttle processing at the Florida spaceport.

Representatives from NASA’s prime contractor for the external tank, Lockheed Martin, were on hand as well, including the firm’s then vice president for the project, Ronald Wetmore. The men share more than a surname and professional interests—they are brothers and Florida Tech graduates.
