1977
John Ryan has been named president and CEO of Advanced Polymer Solutions in Port Washington, N.Y. He resides in Bellmore, N.Y., with wife Rita and two daughters Jacqueline, 4, and Brianna, 2.

1976
Dale Pierce celebrated the completion of hurricane repairs in June by leaving for the Bahamas on his 24-ft. sailboat. “No ice, no AC, no cell phone, no problems.”

1983
Bob Bauer celebrated receiving a 20 year civil service award from Admiral M. Loose. He is one of two hyperbaric certification engineers working with NAVFAC shore-based diver life support systems. He and wife Valerie enjoy life on Kent Island, Md., with two daughters Bridget, 15, and Melissa, 12. Friends may contact him at bob.bobbauer@gmail.com.

Robert Schmid II and wife Cindy became grandparents for the first time in May 2005 with the birth of Brayden Richards, son of their daughter Sara and husband J.W. Richards. Son Taylor, 18, graduated from high school and will attend Texas A&M College. The family lives in Hempstead, Texas, where Robert is general manager of Simaron Fresh Water Fish.

1985
Frederick Grieger is senior vice president for Pacific Coast Technologies in Albany, Ore. He married Imola Frei in August 2005. They have a 52-foot sailing yacht, which is available for private charter by friends and former classmates. In November 2006, they plan to do the trans-Atlantic ARC rally. C. Todd Smith is a pilot for United Airlines and lives in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.

1989
Pamela (Walsh) Nabors, M.S., is director of adult services for Capital Workforce Partners in Hartford, Conn. One of her children, Maggie Walsh, attends Florida Tech.

Kenneth Monroe, M.B.A., is a member of the professional staff at the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington, D.C. He recently traveled with House Space and Aeronautics Subcommittee Chairman Rep. Ken Calvert on a weeklong tour of aerospace facilities in California.

Rhody (Schneider) Cohon has written two children’s historic fiction books, part of a new series named: Blast to the Past, with co-author Stacia Deutsch. Kellie (McGuire) Guentert works for the University of California, Davis, as an electronic research administrator coordinator. She and husband Mark have a daughter and three sons.

1992
Paul Vann, M.S., is founder of Laurel Wreath Communications Inc., a professional speaking and training company. He is a member of the National Speakers Association, and is “living his passion” as a national speaker. His Web site is www.paullawrencevann.com. Gretchen (Leedy) Kelly is employed at Cbeyond Communications as a senior engineer. She resides in Mableton, Ga., with her husband and son. Friends and classmates can reach her at gretchen.kelly@cbeyond.net.

Susan (Hand) Hutchings and husband Joseph live in Parkland, Fla., and recently adopted Elizabeth Rose, from China.

1995
Don Davis, M.S., currently serves as a U.S. Coast Guard Lieutenant Junior Grade reserve officer assigned to the Marine Safety Office in Anchorage, Ala., where he has been stationed since February 2004. Prior to being called to active duty, he was investigations manager at Walt Disney World, Orlando, Fla.

Manuel Vera, M.S., is now in Boston, Mass., working in research and development for Johnson & Johnson.

1998
Becky (Wojdyla) Holtery and husband Andy reside in Apopka, Fla., with their children Andy Jr., 5, and Lillian, 2 1⁄2. Andy Sr. is a dentist, and Becky is a stay-at-home mom, expecting their third child in February 2006. They can be reached at

1999
James Brown, Ph.D., was recently awarded a public service medal from NASA. This is granted to non-NASA employees for exceptional contributions to NASA’s mission. In this case, for his contributions to the space shuttle program strategic planning summit process during the past several years. Brown resides in Brevard County, Fla., with wife Vanessa and sons Jonathan and Steven. At one time, he was an adjunct professor at Florida Tech.

Delphine (Dubois) Martin ’04, M.S., is project engineer for Southern Nuclear Company in Birmingham, Ala.

James Risner, M.S.M., is employed by the U.S. Department of the Army as a senior logistician. He lives in Culpeper, Va., and can be contacted at james.risner@us.army.mil.

Ryan Winslow resides in Greensboro, N.C., where he is based as a first officer for
Comair, Inc.

2003
Darren Kolek, M.S., works as a provider contracting analyst for Univera Healthcare in Buffalo, N.Y. He and wife Melanie recently welcomed son Timothy to the family.

2004
Mary Beth McMillan is pursuing a graduate degree at University of Miami’s Rosenstiel School for Marine and Atmospheric Science. She resides in Key Biscayne, Fla., and can be reached at mmcmillan@rsmas.miami.edu.

2005
John Nierwinski Jr. is an operations research analyst for the U.S. Army Materiel Systems Analysis Activity. He resides with wife Jennifer and children Johnny III, 10, and Julianne, 6, in Havre de Grace, Md.

in memoriam

Curtis Arditi ’86 passed away in September 2003 in Dallas, Texas. His survivors include parents Barbara and Curtis, a brother, two sisters, a niece and a nephew. Contributions were requested in his memory to a children’s charity or humane society of choice.

John “Randy” Murphy ’72 passed away at Tampa, Fla. General Hospital on July 10, 2005. After graduation, he entered the Marine Corps. He served in field artillery and retired as a lieutenant colonel. Survivors include his wife Deborah and sons Patrick and Michael. A memorial service was held in Tampa.

Curtis Lanier ’97, M.S., a native of Huntsville, Ala., died of cancer in July at the age of 38. He was director of Davidson Technology, a government contractor for the Aviation Missile Research Development and Engineering Center. He is survived by his wife Judise and son Jackson, 2. Colleagues established plaques in two labs in his honor to let his memory live on, and invited members of his family to visit the facility where he worked.

Charles A. Crumling ’85, M.B.A., passed away in June 2003. He lived in Palm Harbor, Fla.
