Vic Verma ’87, chairman and chief
executive officer of Savi Technology, a
leading provider of RFID supply chain solutions,
was named by World Trade magazine as one
of the top 50 forces “leading the
way in world trade.” Verma is a member
of the Florida Tech board of trustees.
The
magazine called those it recognized the “Fabulous
50” in its August
2005 cover article. It was recognizing,
it said, “people, companies, facilities
and trends” in leading world trade
that were identified by global supply chain
observers, such as industry analysts, service
providers and journalists.
“This year’s roll call is particularly
heavy with technology, acknowledging the
critical significance real-time visibility
is playing in integrating worldwide traders,” said
Neil Shister, editorial director of World
Trade.
Verma, who co-founded Savi Tech-nology
in 1989, is recipient of numerous accolades,
including being named one of 40 “Technology
Innovators” by the World Economic
Forum.
Ellen Lindner ’93 MBA has been a
Florida Tech flight instructor since 1979.
When not flying for F.I.T. Aviation, however,
she is an award-winning freeform fiber
artist. Her work will be on exhibit at
the Brevard Museum of Art and Science Nov.
12–Jan. 8, 2006. The show, Ellen
Lindner: Hopes and Daydreams, takes its
name from one of Lindner’s award-winning
pieces.
The School of Extended Studies in Fort Lee, Va., has awarded the first Maj. Mathew
Earl Schram Endowed Fellowship to Maj. Shawn Schuldt, who graduated in August
2005 with a master’s degree in logistics management. He earned the fellowship
on the basis of merit.
The fellowship is named for Schram, who
was killed in May 2003 about 110 miles
northwest of Baghdad, while assigned to
the Army’s 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment.
He was a graduate of the U.S. Army’s
Logistics Executive Development course
and received his master’s degree
in logistics management from Florida Tech
in 2002. He also served in Kuwait during
the Gulf War of 1991 and did a tour of
duty in Somalia in the late 1990s.
The fellowship was established by Maj.
Schram’s family, friends and colleagues.
It is awarded primarily for merit and secondarily
for need.
