Russell Ballagh is a system engineer for Verizon Data Services in Temple Terrace, Fla.

David Cowdrick works as a manager, energy supply for Tampa Electric Company, Tampa, Fla. David is responsible for the engineering of major power plant projects.

1975


Susan Krabbe has been named financial planning officer at Kanaly Trust Company, Houston, Texas. She is responsible for perpetual planning and development of the personal financial programs of client families, and has been with the company since 1997.

1976

Jim Zapf M.S. is applications programmer, ADP’s Dealer Services Division. He married Laurie Ann Jones in January 2003, and they reside in Phoenixville, Pa. Jim can be reached at jim_zapf@adp.com.

Roberta (Smith) Carter is a registered nurse in the ICU at Mason District Hospital in Havana, Ill. She is married and has two children: Scott, who graduated from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in June 2004; and Leslie, a student attending the University of Illinois.

1977


Harvey Harmon is director for natural gas import/export activities with the U.S. Department of Energy, Washington, D.C. The main focus of his job is policy advisor on liquefied natural gas (LNG). He lives in Arlington, Va. with his wife Donna and their two daughters, Holly and Heather.

1978

Jeff Leed M.S. established his own environmental consulting company in 1993, Leed Environmental, Inc. He works largely for companies with the lead industry.

1979


Dr. J. Allyn Smith M.S., ’97 Ph.D. is a visiting scientist at Los Alamos National Laboratory. He is involved primarily in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey. He serves on the Florida Tech Alumni Association national board of directors. He and his wife, Jeanne Odermann, are members of the Espanola Valley Opera Guild, supporting the Santa Fe, N. M. opera.

1983


Douglas MacCullagh works for the Naval Oceanographic Office in Mississippi. Currently he is in the systems integration division of the engineering department.

1984


John Graham M.S. has joined McKendree College as the instructional media specialist for the college located in Lebanon, Ill. He has been an adjunct faculty member since 2001. John and his wife Darlene reside in Freeburg, Ill.

Barbara Rudolph Smith M.S., M.B.A. has been named a shareholder with Allen, Dyer, Doppelt, Milbrath & Gilchrist P.A. Her practice is focused on business and intellectual property litigation for the Orlando, Fla. firm. Barbara is admitted to the U.S. District Court, Middle District of Florida, the U.S. Court of Appeals, 11th circuit and the U.S. District Court, northern and southern districts of Florida.

Brig. Gen. Richard Geraci M.S. is the new commandant of cadets at New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell, N.M.

1989

Mike Stager was selected as a Human Space Flight Awareness Honoree for 2004, the most prestigious award given by NASA. He played a key role in the Space Shuttle Columbia Project, working at Kennedy Space Center and assisting in the investigation process. Mike resides in Bowie, Md. with wife Eloise and their three children, Matthew, 10, Mikaela, 7, and Jacqueline, 3.

Melissa (McWhorter) Burton recently joined Swann & Brownfield Real Estate. She and husband Eric, along with daughter Chloe, announce the birth of Connor Maxwell, born in March of 2004. Contact Melissa at Melissa@melissaburton.com.

James Simpson M.S., ’95 Ph.D. is working on new tracking systems as part of NASA’s Range Systems Design and Development Branch at Kennedy Space Center. He lives in Rockledge, Fla. with his fiancée, Dr. Beth Buchanan, and their collection of rescued dogs and cats.

Mayte (Agosto) Ashby is a senior international representative for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) International Area Office for Latin America and the Caribbean in Miami, Fla. She and her family, husband Robert and children Robbie and Sophia, reside in Pembroke Pines, Fla.

1991


Lainey Richardson Psy.D. is the clinical director at Metro Regional Youth Detention Center in Atlanta. Her daughter, Emma, is 5 and in kindergarten.

1994


Frankie Godwin Psy.D. was recognized by the National Infantry Association with the Shield of Sparta Award “for faithful and significant service to the Infantry’s soldiers and families.” She is the first in the State of Florida to receive this honor. She was also presented with the US Army’s Outstanding Civilian Service Award and Florida’s Distinguished Service Medal for her work with the Florida Army National Guard (FLARNG). She currently serves as Chair of The Adjutant General’s FLARNG Family Readiness Program Review Committee and also works with the Chaplain Corps to offer marriage enrichment seminars to FLARNG soldiers and their wives or significant others.

Frankie’s husband, Brigadier General David Godwin, retired on October 2, 2004, from the FLARNG after 35 years of military service.

1995


Delphine (Paillon) Occelli lives outside of Toulouse, France with her family, husband Diego and two sons, Hadrien and Virgile (R).

Shelley Plaut Psy.D. is the director of training for internship at Northwest Georgia Regional Hospital.

Kirk Stucky Psy.D. has earned his ABPP in neuropsychology and rehabilitation psychology. He sits on the education committees for the National Academy of Neuropsychology and Division 22, Rehabilitation Psychology, and works as director of Rehabilitation and Neuropsychology at Hurley Medical Center. Kirk is a professor with Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, and is also one of the faculty in a Consortium for Advanced Psychology Practice. He and wife Mary are parents to son Silas Fletcher 2 1/2 years old.

1996


Pawinee Chaiprasert Ph.D. is a lecturer at the School of Bioresources and Technology Thonburi in Thailand. He teaches environmental biotechnology and conducts research on anaerobic wastewater treatment. He is head of the Waste Utilization and Manage- ment Unit.

1997


Fabi Lufschanowski Laby Psy.D. resides in Houston, Texas and has been in private practice since June 2002. She has two children, Dahlia (3 and 1/2), and Eli (14 months).

Matt Fillingim M.S. received a Ph.D. in 2002 from the University of Washington in Seattle. He then moved to the University of California, Berkeley, as an assistant research physicist in the Space Sciences Laboratory. His wife

Michelle ’97 works at Fugro West, Inc. a geo-technical firm in Oakland, Calif. Their first child, Kiara Clairice, was born in December 2003.

Nicole Silvestri M.S., ’02 Ph.D. is a research associate in the Department of Astronomy at the University of Washington in Seattle, Wash. and is also teaching UW’s astronomy majors. She lives in Kirkland, Wash. with her husband, Christian Kelly.

J. Paul Douglas has started an electronic journal for space operations called the Space Operations Communicator at www.aiaa.org/tc/sos/communicator. A quarterly, it features everything from breakthroughs to survey topics on space operations as well as regular departments covering space policies and treaties, and space history.

1998


Rachel Schipper Ed.S.,’00 Ph.D., is currently university librarian and dean at Georgia College & State University. She and husband Jan are residents of Milledgeville, Ga. Rachel was a reference librarian at Florida Tech’s Evans Library prior to her departure in 2000.

1999


Jill (Rozycki) Dunphy M.S. married Mike in April 2004 aboard the Gateway Clipper in Pittsburgh, Pa. She is a geologist for the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. Mike is a fire management specialist for the Nature Conservancy. The couple resides in Southampton, N.J.

Sudi Dannenberg Randoing Psy.D. lives in Richardson, Texas with her husband, Olivier, and their sons Jason, 8 and Benjamin, 4. She works part-time in geropsychology for Senior Connections, Inc.

2000

Jenna Santangelo M.S. is a senior scientist for Environmental Services in Jupiter, Fla. Her specialization is marine/estuarine permitting issues, wetland determinations, natural resource surveys, agency coordination, endangered/threatened species surveys, mitigation planning and mitigation monitoring.

Kim Gronemeyer Psy.D. is a forensic psychologist at Eastern State Hospital in Williamsburg, Va. She resides in Newport News, Va. and works closely with Mike Kohn, ’00 Psy.D. Kim travels frequently to San Francisco and Florida.

2001


Robert Blackgrove Psy.D. is vice president and chief of Florida operations for Assessment Consultants, Inc. He is also an adjunct faculty member of Nova Southeastern University in Miami, Fla. Robert continues his work in private group practice as a psychologist and certified sex therapist.

Tiffini (Sheldon) Morris Psy.D. lives in Lubbock, Texas with husband, Chris, where she is a licensed geriatric psychologist for VeriCare.

2002

Scott Sabetsky works in the systems integration group with Computer Sciences Raytheon at Patrick Air Force Base, Fla. He is responsible for interfacing between the 45th Space Wing, other CSR departments, and other contracted companies, for projects on the Eastern Range.
Alina Hirschmann is a Ph.D. student at the Politechnic University of Catalonia in Barcelona, Spain.

Stacy Baron Psy.D. lives in Leesburg, Va. with husband Tim, son Aidan, and daughter Kyra. She is in private practice.
Ann Marie DePaul-Haddock M.S. is at Ready Pac, a $1 billion food company in Calif., where she is director of organizational development and human resources. She and husband Greg enjoy living in California.

2003


Manoj Sridhar is currently a Ph.D. student in the Dept. of Physics and Astronomy, Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tenn., pursuing research involving the use of lasers to manipulate biological molecules.
Chris Snyder is enrolled in the Case Western Reserve University Master’s Program in Physics Entrepreneurship.

Jay Flicker Psy.D. is clinical director for the Hope and Help Center of Central Florida, Inc., an HIV/AIDS community service organization in Winter Park. He and partner Ben have recently bought a home in Orlando, Fla.

2004

Brian Howell Ph.D. is the program director for Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology at Western Carolina University, Cullowhee, N.C. He is also on the faculty.

Christina Pelzer is currently working at Johnson Space Center with the Motion Control Group for the International Space Station. She supports the real-time operations of Station at Mission Control Center-Houston through the Attitude Determination and Control Officer.

Scott Wilson is an account analyst at Florida Tech. He is actively involved in the local punk music scene and helps promote local bands. His is also the founding member of the concert club, Turnips.

Raj Sareen is a teaching assistant in San Francisco State University’s Masters of Physics program.


IN MEMORIAM

Richard “Dick” Tracy ’88 died Oct. 24, 2004. A pilot for the Hendrick Motor Sports organization of North Carolina, he was among 10 passengers and crew killed in a plane crash while en route to a NASCAR race in Martinsville, Va. A native of Springfield, Vt., Dick earned an associate’s degree at the University of Massachusetts prior to enrolling at Florida Tech, where he completed his bachelor’s degree. He is survived by three brothers and four sisters. Donations may be sent in his memory to the Hendrick Foundation for Children, P. O. Box 240070, Charlotte, N. C. 28224.

Dorothy Dionne-Reed ’83 M.S., ’85 Ph.D., passed away in Winston-Salem, N.C. on October 9, 2004. Dorothy was at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home at the time of her death. She is survived by her husband, a son, her parents, and a sister. A memorial service was held on October 15, 2004.
