Delta Delta Taus Connect
“Brothers and friends of the Delta Delta Tau fraternal society of Florida Tech, which existed from 1967 to 1973, are invited to keep in touch through the official university DDT Web site,” said George Poidomani ’73. More than 275 photos from all reunions and school day photos during these years are posted on the site for viewing and downloading.

To participate in this site and connect with schoolmates from over 30 years ago, contact Poidomani at

Caribbean Scholar
The Caribbean Students Alumni Association presented a $1,000 scholarship to Samira Noel last fall. From Grenada, she is a senior majoring in electrical engineering. This is the first scholarship awarded and sponsored by an alumni affinity group.

“ I’m honored to be the first recipient,” said Noel. “It is good to see how much CSA does for its members. CSA is a home away from home to me.”

Physics and Space Sciences Alumni Connections
The Department of Physics and Space Sciences has a new Web site at www.fit.edu/pss, and a new feature of particular interest to alumni is the Alumni Connections Web page. We hope you'll stop by to check up on your former classmates, and to let us know what's new in your life, whether it's a new job, an advanced degree, or some good family news.

If available, we'll also publish a small photo next to your entry. Please visit www.fit.edu/pss/alumni.html.

Hoops and Hot Pizza
The College of Business hosted a Basketball and Pizza night last fall especially for alumni. Alumni, faculty, students and guests gathered to dine and agree “You can’t win them all.” Among those attending were Susan Tyson, who is scheduled to earn her M.B.A. in May 2005, and her husband, Jim.

“We were treated to two exciting, hard-fought, albeit heartbreaking games,” said Dr. David Hott, associate professor, College of Business. Women Panthers lost to University of North Florida 62–57 and Men Panthers were barely defeated by Flagler College 72–71.

Faculty Emeriti Return
Over a dozen professors emeriti, still living locally, returned to campus recently to gather for an Alumni Affairs-hosted luncheon in their honor. Pres. Anthony J. Catanese addressed the retired faculty, updating them on the university’s current initiatives and growth plans.

Eeriti reminisced. Satellite Beach resident and former dean, Harry Weber (1966-1986), recalled, “There wasn’t a day at FIT when I didn’t come to campus eager and happy to work with students.”

“We’re delighted that the emeriti faculty has chosen to organize and look forward to working with them on many shared interests and projects,” said Ken Droscher, alumni association executive director.

To be accorded professor emeritus status, a faculty member must have been at Florida Tech for at least 10 years and have fulfilled other academic requirements.

Business Barbecue
If College of Business alumni find it hard to keep in touch most of the year, the annual fall picnic is a good time for locals to catch up. Last autumn more than 30 alumni and faculty and their families gathered on the grounds of the All Faiths Center.

Alumni Weddings
Wedding bells rang for two alumni couples who now live in California.
Bob Pratt ’95, ’97 M.S., ’98 M.B.A. and Cindy Dwyer ’97 married on Oct. 30, 2004 in Calabasas, Calif., near Los Angeles and their home.

Bob is the manager of technical services for Advanced Media Design in Los Angeles. Cindy is a hydrographic surveyor for Fugro West, Inc. in Ventura.

Wed in October 2003 were Frank Guttiere ’98, ’01 M.B.A. and Kirstin DeGeer ’99, ’04 M.S..

Also wed that year were Debbie Goss ’99 and Musfik Dogancay ’97.
