1970
James Majewski has been elected to the board of directors of Global Energy Group of Plano, Texas. He is CEO and president of Cherokee Nations Industries, Inc., (CNI) a tribal owned Oklahoma corporation.

1976
Dale Pierce celebrated the completion of hurricane repairs in June by leaving for the Bahamas on his 24-ft. sailboat. “No ice, no AC, no cell phone, no problems.”

1977
Hillary (Herring) Freeman was the first African American female city council member elected in 100 years of Palo Alto, Calif., history. She concentrates on pro - environmental management legislation, especially regarding water issues. She and husband Nellis are parents to Austinn and Alex.

1979
Janie Park ’79 M.S., ’82 Ph.D. now serves as the 10th president of Chadron State College in Nebraska. At one time, she was the associate dean of the College of Science and Liberal Arts at Florida Tech. Janie and husband Tom have two grown children, Chris and Eric. She moves to Chadron from Montana State University–Billings, where her position was provost and academic vice chancellor.

1984
Irasema (Ortega) Materassi ’88 M.S. teaches high school science and English as a Second Language. She has been selected by the Mesa, Ariz., Unified School District to train other teachers on sheltered English techniques. She also is an online curriculum developer and instructor for the education department at Grand Canyon University. At Rio Salado Community College she teaches online biology and marine biology courses. She and husband Lionel have one son, Andrew, age 11.

1991
Michael Moses M.S. has been named by NASA as one of nine new flight directors for the Space Shuttle and International Space Station at Mission Control–Houston. He has been working at Johnson Space Center since 1995.

1995
Daniel Richter is currently teaching computer science in Hamilton, Ohio. He and wife Jill married in June 2004. Dan was captain of the men’s basketball team during his undergrad years.

1998
Amber Eslick-Peterson graduated from the University of Illinois School of Medicine in 2004, and is at Hinsdale Hospital in the family medicine residency program. She married Todd Peterson in 2001, gaining two stepchildren, Marcus and Megan. She can be reached at amber978@peoplepc.com.

Brendan Meckel married Robyn Whiton in 2002. He is a pilot for Continental Express and she is an 8th grade Earth and space science teacher. The couple lives in New Hampshire.

1999
Elisa Ulibarri-Fontan M.S. and Norman Fontan ’00 met while at Florida Tech and were married in 1995. She works for Brevard County Florida Public School District, and he is a first officer for Express Jet.

Rebecca Shelton M.B.A. and husband Steve welcomed triplets Elijah, Elizabeth and Ethan in July 2004. They joined siblings Alex, Trisha and Keith.

 








2004
James McDaniel Jr. and wife Melanie announce the birth of their first child, Emily Caroline, in January 2005 in Atlanta, Ga.

2005
Nahed Abdullah Msallam Bahman was congratulated by His Majesty the King, Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain, who said that her achievement was a source of pride to her home nation. She graduated with honors in aviation management and flight technology in May.
